I just learned of nancy,s passing and I am heartbroken. I am a family and consumer science teacher with 38 years experience. I also was a sewer for college theater groups that very often had to figure out ways to make things work. She was a great inspiration! Nancy was a wonderful woman who shared her talents every week with all her sewing fans. I have enjoyed watching Nancy for many years. I loved her teaching style. I learned so much from her, I watched her programs for at least 20 years. Then she helped me stand up. She was a gifted teacher who loved sharing what she knew. One might expect that those five years were filled with sadness and painand there was a lot of thatbut in those years Nancy also kept looking and planning for the future. Rest in peace, Nancy. She married Richard Zieman in 1977. Nancy was truly an inspiration to all of us and continues to be. I have several of her sewing and quilting books and still watch the old shows on PBS or on the computer. You are missed. I followed her journey since the beginning of her PBS career. Nancy inspired me in so many way in my life and I look forward to meeting her again. Would love to have a chance to read this story. She showed a faith through her programs and inspired me as I watched her. She was such an icon in the sewing world and is greatly missed. I have learned a great deal over the years from reading Nancys instructional books and watching (and re-watching) the shows. I always respected Nancys abilty to teach but her sincerity of spirit is what always shone through. I just now found out Nancy Zieman died. When I I read Sewing with Nancy I was deeply moved by all the trials and tribulations that she went through as a young person and as a college student; then more and more health issues that followed. I was amazed that she was so patient and kind in the hectic atmosphere of such a stimulating and busy event. No other tv personalities passing had ever brought me to tears as did Nancys and continues to whenever I think of her. I believe that sincerity was Nancy living her Christiian faith. I still rewatch Sewing With Nancy shows when sewing and quilting. In my early sewing days, I taped the videos and still have the collection (and a VCR which plays them). I would be honored to win the book. . I learned about quilting from Nancy, but what really attracted me to her was her faith. I have kept many of them as a reference as well as many of her Sewing With Nancy books. I have read Seams Unlikely and recommend it to sewing/quilting friends. What a wonderful person to all of us! Now that I have a computer I can watch more shows on my time as they never have them on enough for me. While this would appear to be a dream situation . I do so miss her.
